Podcast Rec – “When Teens Threaten Self-Harm: Guidance for Clinicians and Parents, Ep. 252” from Light up the Couch

Here’s a podcast rec from one of my favorite podcasts, Light up the Couch. The host, Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Irias, LMFT, interviews a new expert every episode. The experts dive into a wide range of counseling topics from a variety of theoretical perspectives. The experts often talk about personal experience, anonymized case examples, and research in their interviews. Each episode can also be logged as a Free Continuing Education Unit (woot woot). Pre-licensed clinicians can log the podcast as a non-direct clinical hour.

You can find the backlog of episodes as CEU’s on their website by clicking on this link. I usually just listen on Spotify.

In “When Teens Threaten Self-Harm: Guidance for Clinicians and Parents, Ep. 252”, Beth Irias interviews Dr. Jaimee Arnoff about her experience working with teens and evidence-based interventions for caregivers and teens. I love this episode in particular because Dr. Arnoff provides a lot of practical insight for therapists about boundary setting, safety planning, and emergency protocol.
